USC PASS '17 President
Claudia Lam has accumulated a wide variety of healthcare experiences and leadership positions prior to and throughout her current status as a first year physician assistant student at the University of Southern California (USC). She graduated with a BS in Physiological Science from the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2011, where she gained an appreciation for the medical field through research; her work investigating cardiovascular and metabolic diseases was published in the Journal of Applied Physiology. She was simultaneously exposed to public education through her volunteer efforts with the American Cancer Society as President and Cancer Education Chair, raising awareness regarding the detection and prevention of a wide spectrum of cancers. After graduating, Claudia worked as an EMT, an experience through which she began to understand the needs of various patient populations, including the homeless and medically underserved of Los Angeles. As a current member of USC’s Student Run Clinic Special Events Team, she looks forward to volunteering in LA’s infamous Skid Row. Furthermore, Claudia serves as President of her class PA Student Society, encouraging interprofessional collaboration with medical, pharmacy, and occupational therapy students through free health fairs for local disadvantaged populations.
